Skin Inc Pure Snow White+ Mask

Previously introduced here, I am finally ready to share my thoughts about the Skin Inc Pure Snow White+ Mask. Note that the press sample provided to me for review (pictured above) is in a different packaging – the actual packaging is identical to the visual shown in my introductory post.

This mask promises a handful of results as follows;-

  • instantly brighter and more translucent skin after just one application
  • minimizes pores
  • moisturises and plumps skin
  • even skin’s surface so that light bounces off perfectly
  • improves the light-reflecting quality of skin
  • prevent photo-ageing

With all these benefits and results, this mask retails at S$268 a pop, for 100ml of product, made in Japan.

I must admit, I have a love-hate relationship with this product and as we go along, you will find out why.

Let’s start with the basic, smell. This mask bears quite a distinct scent, a rather strong one which I can’t quite pin point what it is but it smells like some chemical, iron or something. Definitely nothing flora nor fruity. The smell can be quite overwhelming when applying but it goes away (or rather, my nose has adapted to it) in 5 minutes.

I have been using this mask weekly for well over a month and I still can’t get used to the smell.

The texture is very smooth and thick, almost like a chalky paste. It is creamy thus application is very easy and simple – I use a brush to apply. Spreads very easily onto the skin like butter.

After cleansing, apply the mask for 10 minutes and remove with warm water. There was a slight tingling sensation (due to the ionisation process according to the brand) but it goes away relatively quickly.

According to the brand, a one-time application will reap you these benefits:

  • Whiter and more translucent skin
  • Visible decrease in pore size. Studies in Japan have shown results of decreased pore size by up to 50%
  • A perfect canvas for makeup application

According to the brand, use it weekly for a month and see:

  • Renewed skin and improved skin condition
  • Greatly reduced pigmentation, as brighter, translucent skin is revealed
  • A reduction in pigmentation formation
  • Smoother skin and improvements to acne-plagued skin
  • Reduced sebum production and increased moisture levels

SET A

The above set of pictures were taken during my first trial of the product, some time in May.

My skin was a little red, sensitive as usual and recovering from a minor breakout – as you can see, I have spots and scars which needed some attention. I applied a thin layer of mask all over my face and brought it down to my neck. I experienced a little tingling sensation but it went away relatively quickly.

After 10 minutes, I removed the mask with a pair of facial cleansing sponges soaked in warm water and the “after” picture shows how my skin looks immediately after removing the mask.

SET B

The set of pictures above were taken during my third trial of the product, I believe it was around end May or beginning of June.

My skin was a little less red and sensitive during this period of time but I have naturally thin skin which explains the visibility of my veins. Most of my previous scars had either lightened or disappeared but I was still experiencing some breakouts here and there.

I applied a slightly thicker layer this round and I didn’t bring it down to my neck. From the “after” pictures, you can tell that the skin on my face is visibly brighter and whiter. Size of pores seemed to have reduced greatly too and my skin looks as if it’s glowing.

Overview

After continuous usage of this mask every week, for over a month – I did not notice significant reduce in pigmentation. I also did not notice any reduction in sebum production around my T-zone.

However, my skin is clearly smoother, more translucent and brighter but I cannot be 100% sure that it’s this mask that does the job. It could be my skincare regime, hormones etc. that sums up to better skin. The thing about skincare, really, is quite complicating because there is 101 other factors and/or variant that could cause the results to change.

But having said that, the Skin Inc Pure Snow White+ Mask produces some instant results – whiter, brighter skin in 10 minutes. My skin appears more radiant and glowy after the mask and the most amazing part is the size of my pores. Texture of my skin seems to have smoother too.

The next question is, does the brightening effect last?

It does if you don’t wash your face after the mask – with a foaming cleanser. The thing I didn’t quite like about this product, other than the smell, is – I feel that this mask leaves a white cast/veil over my skin, once taken off, my skin goes back to normal.

And when I apply this mask, I avoid my eye and lip contour areas – when I clean the mask off, those are the two areas without the veil which can look kind of strange if you ask me.

I would recommend this product to

As mentioned earlier, I have a love-hate relationship with this product. There are many things I like about this product but there is also things I don’t – the smell and white cast effect. And I am not quite sure how this mask will translate on ladies with a deeper skin tone.

At the price of S$268 per tub, I need to love everything about it to justify buying a mask that costs this much. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this product to anyone who seeks for instant results.

I would also recommend you to search for other reviews online to see how it worked on others.

  • Ascorbyl Glucoside – a stable form of Vitamin C and an antioxidant that inhibits the synthesis of melanin.
  • Morus Alba Root Extract – has anti-inflammatory and whitening effects.
  • Y-Titanium Dioxide – a colourant that reflects UV rays to give an instant whitening visual effect.
  • Morus Alba Root Extract – has anti-inflammatory and whitening effects.
  • Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract – has strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, hydrating and soothing properties to balance out skin tone, for an even glow.

ANTI-AGEING AGENTSTo turn back the clock

  • Chlorella Vulgaris Extract – an algae extract that has powerful anti-ageing benefits due to its rich source of carotenoids (a family of nutrients that protect skin from the harmful effects of UV rays). It is also loaded with amino acids (eg, lysine, proline, glycine and alanin) that are essential building blocks of proteins and constitute each individual collagen unit.
  • Panax Ginseng Root Extract – balances sebum production and helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles in mature skin. Rich in Vitamin B, this antioxidant also regenerates, moisturises and refreshes skin.
  • Hydroxyapatite – a mineral found naturally in teeth and bones, boosts the gradual in-growth of collagen into soft tissue to firm and tone skin.
  • Equisetum Arvense Extract – an herbal extract that boosts circulation and the rejuvenation of connective tissues to firm and tone skin
  • Pueraria Lobata Root Extract – a powerful anti-inflammatory that calms skin and improves microcirculation and skin’s natural immunity.

PORE MINIMISERSTo dramatically reduce pore size

  • Scutellaria Baicalensis – an extract from the root of Koganebana, a plant from the mint family, this flavonoid has astringent, anti-inflammation, anti-allergy and antibacterial properties. It absorbs UV rays, reduces pore size, prevents oxidation and forestalls ageing.

HYDRATING HEROESFor an even and dewy complexion

  • Natto Gum – protects the skin with a thin layer of film to stem water loss from skin’s surface and also effectively penetrates deep to hydrate the skin.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract – derived from the aloe vera plant, this brings relief to irritated, inflamed or sensitive skin, and moisturises dry skin to treat flakiness.
  • Hyaluronic Acid – this moisture magnet holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Creates a protective barrier around the skin and stimulates collagen repair.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate – replenishes lost moisture and rebalances skin’s hydration levels.
